2) State when / how often they do it
e.g. I sometimes play baseball on the weekend.

Words and rules:
The student should be able to use adverbs of definite frequency e.g. I go there once a week.
The student should be able to use adverbs of indefinite frequency e.g. I usually go there.
The student should be able to use prepositions of time e.g. I brush my teeth at 8:00 pm.
The student should be able to sequence actions. e.g. I usually do that before I go to bed.
The student should be able to name some words related to one's daily routine e.g. to brush one's teeth

Type: Vocabulary introduction
Method: Draw a line from 0% to 100% and then show where the different adverbs fall. You can turn this into a guessing game if you like. e.g. “Which word do you think means about 20%?” You can also introduce additional adverbs if you like e.g. occasionally, hardly ever, frequently etc.

Option 1:
Difficulty ★★
Purpose: To practice using adverbs of time (indefinite frequency)

Method: Brainstorm some tasks you perform everyday as part of your routine e.g brush your teeth, then have the student interview you. e.g. “How often do you brush your teeth?” “Do you always have a shower in the morning?”

Option 3:
Difficulty ★★★
Purpose: To clarify a common misunderstanding
Type: Explanation
Method: Show the student the difference between “Do you ever” and “How often do you” “Do you ever”, is a closed question, you can answer, “yes” or “no”. But, “how often do you” an open question, you can’t reply with yes or no. Some students confuse “Do you ever” with “Have you ever”

Naruhodo Point
