Communicative lesson goal

By the end of the lesson, the student should be able to invite their friends to go somewhere with them

Communication strategies:
The student should be able to able to invite someone out by following the 4 steps below:
1) Ask when their friends are free
2) Ask about interest
3) Make a suggestion / Extend an invitation
4) Discuss details

A) Hi James. Are you free tonight?
B) Yeah.
A) Do you like action movies?
B) Yeah.
A) How about we go see the new Batman movie?
B) Sure. Sounds great.

A) So, let's meet at the cinema at 4:00
B) Sure. See you them.

Words and rules:
The student should be able to name some popular activities that people do together.
The student should be able to make suggestions
The student should be able to extend invitations

Appropriateness: 
Register: When extending an invitation to a friend you can use a casual register.
Social rules: The student should know how to show empathy when declining a request.
Cultural references: "you wanna" is a casual way of saying "Do you want to"

Option 1:

Type: Grammar practice - Collocation
Purpose: To teach the student what words go with “go”
Method: Show the student that there are different words that can link to “go” e.g.
go + gerund e.g. go running
go + to e.g. go to Tokyo
go + for e.g. go for a run
go + out e.g. Let’s go out on Friday
go + verb e.g. Let’s go see a movie

Option 2:
Difficulty ★★
Type: Expression introduction and skit
Purpose: To teach the student how to extend group invitations
Method: Show the student that why you want to extend a group invitation you usually use the following formula.
State your plans e.g. Sam and I are going to the beach.
Extend an invitation e.g. Would you like to join us?

Option 3:
Difficulty ★★★
Type: Role-play
Purpose: Practicing fluency in regards to extending invitations and giving directions
Method: Role-play inviting someone out then giving them directions to the meeting location.
