Communicative lesson goal

By the end of the lesson, the student should be able to choose a place to rent.

Communication strategies:
The student should be able to choose a place to rent by following the 4 steps below:
1) state you are looking for an apartment
2) share information about the kind of apartment you would like.
3) give your opinion of the apartment
4) accept or decline to rent the apartments shown to you
e.g.
A) Hello. I'm looking for a new apartment.
B) What type of place are you looking for?
A) I’m looking for a small one bedroom apartment near the station.
B) What area?
A) Shinjuku or Shibuya.
B) OK. Here are some listings.
A) This one looks nice.
B) Would you like a tour?
A) Sure. This is the living room. Here’s the bathroom. And here’s the storage space. What do you think?
B) It’s OK, but the kitchen is too small. Can you show me something else?

Words and rules:
- The student should be able to accept or decline a choice. e.g. It's great. I'll take it.
- The student should be able to give their opinion of an apartment and talk about what they like or don't like about an apartment. e.g. It’s OK, but the kitchen is too small.

A) Hello, I’m looking to rent an apartment.
B) Sure. What area?
A) North Tokyo.
B) OK. Let me see what’s available. There are two places. Would you like to see them?
A) Sure.
B) Here is the first place. It’s a large 3 bedroom apartment. It was built in 1975. It has great view of the city. It’s a 20min walk from the station. It’s on the 10th floor. The rent is $1000 a month. All utilities are included and you don’t need to pay a security deposit. Here is the kitchen, here is the living room, and here are the bedrooms. What do you think?
A) It’s a little old. And it’s too far from the station. This isn’t really what I’m looking for. Can I see the other apartment?
B) Sure. This is a new 1 bedroom condo. It’s right in heart of city. It’s very close to station and shops. The rent is $1700 a month + utilities. The security deposit is 2 month’s rent. Here is the living room and kitchen, here is the bathroom, and here is the bedroom. What do you think?
A) This is a little expensive, but it’s really nice. OK. I’ll take this one.
