Milestone lesson flow

This lesson presents a problem that the student needs to solve. Read the situation, then use the content from the three sections (Reading, Listening, and Interview) to complete the final task.

Milestone lesson goal

By the end of the lesson, the student should be able to present their plan for a one-week trip around Japan with a friend.

Communication strategies:
The student should be able to present their plan using the strategy below:
1) state what they are going to do
2) explain why they chose each place
e.g.
On Monday, we will meet up and have lunch at a Taro sushi. It's a famous sushi restaurant near the hotel. They got some really good reviews on Trip Advisor. Then we will go to a traditional Japanese hot spring because Sam said he really wants to try an onsen while he is in Japan. On Tuesday, we will do some shopping in Tokyo. Maybe, we will go to Shinjuku and Shibuya. I think it would be nice to see the famous scramble crossing. After that, maybe we will take a walk in the park. I heard there is a nice park in Shinjuku. On Wednesday, since we both like rollercoasters, we are planning to go to Fuji Q Highlands. On Thursday, we will travel to Kyoto so we can see the amazing temples. On Friday, we will go to Osaka because we want to go see the castle. On Saturday, we will go to Nara to see the deer. We both want to take some cute photos of the deer there.

Track #16
I remember when my parents came to Japan, we had lunch at a nice sushi place. We waited in line for about 30 minutes. Our sushi chef was extremely cheerful and very welcoming. We ordered fatty tuna, sweet shrimp, freshwater eel, abalone, and squid. Everything was incredible. It was a bit pricey, though. The bill came to over 5000 yen. After that, we visited some local temples and explored their wonderful gardens. My father took lots of pictures. We finished the day by going to a traditional Japanese hot spring called an onsen. If you haven’t been to an onsen, I thoroughly recommend it. It is very relaxing.
