By the end of the lesson, the student should be able to describe an event they went to.
Communication strategies:
The student should be able to describe an event they went to by following the 5 steps below:
1) state the event they went to
2) describe the location / time
3) describe the activities at the event
4) describe information from their senses
5) give a conclusion
e.g. I went to my friend’s birthday party last week. It was at my friend’s house. The party went from 1:00 to about 7:00. There was a jumping castle. And we all played lots of games. There was also a clown. The food at the party tasted so good. I had such a good time. I hope he invites me again next year.
Words and rules:
- The student should be able to use the past tense. e.g. I went to a party.
- The student should be able to talk about information they got from their senses. e.g. It was really loud (hearing)
- The student should be able to give their opinion. e.g. I really liked it.
- The student should be able to sequence events. e.g. Later on,

Let's practice - uncontrolled practice
Purpose:
Practicing describing events
Method: Take turns describing an event but not saying the name. One partner needs to describe and one partner needs to guess. You can limit the options if you want to make the game easier. e.g. only Tokyo events, or only using preselected events.

Expected outcome
Last week, I went to Oktoberfest in Munich. It was great. We go there at 6:00 and left around midnight. As soon as we arrived, we drank large beers and ate sausages. The beer tasted really good! Then, later on we danced and listened to music. The atmosphere there was great. Everywhere we could see people dancing and hear people singing. It was a lot of fun.
