By the end of the lesson, the student should be able to go shopping and find a new TV.

A) OK. Let me show you what we have.
B) All of these models are 50" and have 4K screens, plus they can access Netflix.
A) Great. I really like these three. Out of the three, which is the most popular?
B) These two are both very popular.
A) Cool. I see. OK then, between the two which has more HDMI ports?
B) This one does.
A) And which has better picture quality?
B) I think the picture quality on this one isn't as good as the picture quality on this one.
A) Yes, I see what you mean. OK, which is easier to use?
B) I think this one is a little easier to use. Here, try the remote. Just press this button to turn the TV on, then use the voice control to change the channel or adjust the volume.
A) Wow! That's really useful. OK I'll get this one.

So, last week, I got a big bonus at work and decided to buy a new TV. I shopped around a bit and compared some different models. In the end, I decided to go with Megasonic 55 inch. It’s a beautiful TV. I love the curved display. The picture quality is amazing too.
Everything looks amazing in 4K. Also, It’s really easy to use. You can control it with the remote or your smartphone. Oh, and the Smart TV function is really useful. I love being able to watch Netflix or YouTube right from my TV without having to use my PC - it’s great!

Option 1:

Type: Listening - Vocabulary search
Purpose: To introduce vocabulary / check comprehension
Method: After the student has done the listening activity and completed the questions, have them find the following words in the listening by listening for their definitions. The teacher reads the definition and the student needs to find the correct word. After the student has found all the words, ask the student to give you a summary of the listening. Hopefully, the student will use some of the new words in their summary.

4) to go with (v) - to decide to buy something
5) curved (adj) - having a rounded shape

Purpose: To increase fluency and confidence
Method: After you have completed the task role-play one time. Give the student some feedback and
then do it again. Time permitting, you are welcome to do this multiple times.

The SG is the best value for money.
3) Which TV has more features, the SG or the Sunware?
The Sunware has more features than the SG.
4) Which TV are you interested in buying? Why?
Answers will vary.
Listening
1) What TV did they buy?

2) Is it flat or curved?
Yes, it is.
3) Is the TV 4K?
Yes, it is.
4) What are some of the features of the TV?
You can control it with the remote or your smartphone. It has Netflix and Youtube. The picture quality is amazing. It has 4K. It is curved.
